Born to Read - Mission Statement

The "Born to Read" program was organized for children ages 0-4 years old that live within the Elmsford School District. This program was established to promote early literacy in the home. Reading is important to a child's early educational development. The program encourages parents and guardians to read to their infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. Born to Read provides training, books, and support to children, volunteers, and parents.

The Born to Read committee has partnered with groups throughout the community such as the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), Interact Club, and Hamilton's National Honor Society to promote reading in our district.

This year, the committee has planned three events: "Story Time," "Pajama Party," and a third event to be determined. Additionally, we have a dedicated "Born to Read" section of our website at: http://btr.elmsd.org/. Please visit our site often, as we will be posting additional information for our upcoming events, photos of us reading, tip on how to make reading fun, and useful resources for you and your children.
