Hosted By: Alexander Hamiton High School Guidance Department

This program is designed for students from grades 10 through 12 who are interested in a career in nursing. The students meet once a month, afterschool, in Mr. Disbrow's room with Mrs. Monica Purdy, RN, from White Plains Hospital and Mrs. Annie Norris, a liason for White Plains Hospital. During these meetings the students are introduced to the procedures performed by an RN, and various roles RN's have within a hospital. Students in 11th and 12th grade have the opportunity to apply for a 7 week paid apprenticeship program at White Plains Hospital. This apprenticeship is designed to introduce interested students to the environment of a hospital, and see various functions within the hospital. The Guidance Department hopes that this program will help students decide to pursue a career in nursing or another healthcare-related field.
