NYU is holding a precollege program for students to take up to two college level courses during the summer recess. Courses are offered by the College of Arts and Science, the Steinhardt School of Education, the Tisch School of the Arts, and the College of Nursing, in more than thirty academic areas.

NYU Precollege is a six-week, college credit-bearing program that features the following:

Students can choose one or two courses from more than 30 academic areas and attend classes with college-aged students.

Students are required to commute to the NYU campus for classes. The Summer 2008 information and application forms are also available on the NYU Summer Sessions Web site: www.nyu.edu/summer. Students can earn up to 8 college credits. The program runs from June 30th through August 8, 2008.

Quinnipiac University is offering students that are interested in broadcast journalism an opportunity to learn from the professionals through its Television News Institute. Students will be standing in front of a camera or get the satisfaction of writing, editing and producing their own news and sports stories.

This weeklong program will feature seasoned broadcasters who teach the fundamentals of television reporting, from gathering information and writing stories to producing videos in the field and tips to improve on-camera performance. In their high-definition studio, students will produce a live newscast featuring preproduced news "packages," sports, weather and more.

Students can opt to stay on campus for the week if they choose. The on-campus option provides housing for five nights beginning Sunday, July 6. Students must leave the residence hall by 7 p.m. on Friday, July 11th.

WPI Frontiers is a two-week residential program from July 13-25, 2008 for soon to be juniors and seniors. This program blends science, technology and engineering (such as aerospace engineering, mathematics, robotics, computer science and chemistry/bio-chemistry with communication workshops and diverse social activities. WPI Strive is a one-week residential program from July 6-12, 2008 focused on the hands-on exploration of engineering, math and science for African American, Latino and American Indian high school students. MCLA is sponsoring their Individual Enrichment Program Summer Seminar for students to ease their individual adjustment into college life while providing them with an opportunity to meet faculty, collegiate staff, and other new students before the new academic year begins. This is an intensive seminar that runs for four weeks from June 25th through July 19, 2008. Students are chosen through their application process.

WISE (Women in the Sciences and Engineering Institute) is a residential week-long camp with the goal of introducing young women to science and engineering as careers and college majors.

These young women will participate in hands-on workshops and projects in science and engineering fields developed and facilitated by the Penn State faculty, staff and students. Students will attend educational tours and field trips and experience living on campus in the residence hall with several collegiate women.

To be eligible young women must be entering 11th or 12th grade, have a strong interest in math, science, and/or engineering. Applicants must have taken or will take pre-calculus or calculus, chemistry and physics and be college bound.

This summer program is a complete media production experience for high school students. It will be held from July 7th to August 8th. Students will be inspired to write and produce their own stories. In this 5-week summer program students will create their own fiction or non-fiction films, videos, webcasts and live multi-camera productions. Purchase College is offering three different summer programs for students in the summer of 2008.

The Jazz Institute program will be from July 13th to July 18th. This will provide experience, wisdom and encouragement to student musicians. The Institute is a unique opportunity for high school students to spend time this summer exploring jazz. Under the guidance of performer/instructors from Purchase College's Jazz Studies Program, students develop skills and discover options for continuing their musical studies.

The Visual Arts Institute is held from July 7th to July 31st. This is a great opportunity for high school students to spend time this summer exploring the visual arts and developing their skills under the guidance of practicing artists in the superb studios of Purchase College's School of Art & Design.

The Youth Programs in the Arts run from July 1st to August 8th. This program is for students ages 7 - 12 and introduces children to the visual arts for the first time or encourages their already-awakened artistic interests.

Ithaca has three summer sessions for their residential college program.

The three-week session from June 29 - July 18, 2008 is a college-credit program where students can earn two or three credits. Every class meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Extracurricular activities or free time follows each afternoon.

The five-week session, college-credit program, is open to students who will be entering their senior year of high school in fall 2008. Students will earn 6-8 college credits in two courses during the five weeks. They will learn to manage their time so that they can do well academically and still participate in numerous afternoon and evening cocurricular, social, and recreational opportunities.

For students that only have a week for college this summer, they can immerse themselves in one of 11 minicourses. Evenings are set aside for fun - cocurricular activities, trips downtown - and plenty of time for growing friendships. Students can enroll in one or both minicourse sessions, as well as the three-week session. All minicourse participants will receive a certificate of completion.

NMH has a summer program for middle school students grades 7-9 that focus on skills necessary for more advanced high school courses. Students select two major courses plus an afternoon minor course and sport.

NMH offers a college prep program for students entering grades 10-12. Credit or enrichment courses are offered. Students can select one major course plus an afternoon lab or minor course and sport.

English As a Second Language is available for students entering grades 7-12. Levels range from beginning to advance and are designed to provide practice in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The students registered in the morning ESL class can select an afternoon minor course and sport.

NMH is also sponsoring a New Zealand Summer Abroad trip for students entering grades 10-12. They will spend one week at NMH and four weeks in New Zealand studying its history and culture and experiencing the country's spectacular scenery by way of day hikes, bicycle rides, and kayak expeditions.
