| A message to the community: |
| Tuesday's school budget defeat has created the need to reflect on the wishes of Elmsford voters. The Board of Education and Administration understand it did not represent a rejection of Elmsford's continued dedication to excellence. We do believe that we need to revisit the budget proposal to ensure that it meets the needs of both students and community. The Board is entering a listening period in which it invites feedback on steps that should be taken to ensure a successful vote on a second proposal. In addition to receiving informal input, the Board will host a session for public comment. The session will be Tuesday, May 28th at 7:00 p.m. (with an executive session beginning at 6:30 pm). It will be held in the Alexander Hamilton High School Library. At a meeting on June 3rd at 8:00 pm, the Board will adopt a new budget proposal for 2013-14. A budget hearing will take place on June 11th at 8:00 pm in the Alexander Hamilton High School Library. After a legally-prescribed waiting period, the public will have an opportunity to vote on this second proposal June 18th at the Alice E. Grady Elementary School Music Room. The Board welcomes your input and seeks your support. Working together, we can create a plan that will meet the approval of our residents. Sincerely, Barbara A. Peters Ed.D.
